Waking Up in My Brand New Room

I woke up this morning in my new room, freshly painted and decorated, complete with the french doors, at my new home. Amy bought me an old four poster bed frame and the neighbor down the street, who refurbishes furniture painted it an off white and I love it. I bought a new mattress and box springs yesterday.
My room wasn't quite ready the first night I was here so I slept on the couch but the kids worked hard yesterday to finish it up and so tada! This morning I feel like a queen.
Today I will begin to unpack my things and fill my room with personal stuff.
It is still kind of not real to me that I am actually here but here I am.
SO, lots to do today. In the mean time here are some pictures of the Oklahoma City National Memorial. Matthew and I were there on a quite morning and it is so impressive and so touching. It honors not only the victims but the survivors as well.

Matthew left a Sticker on the fence.

We're Here

We drove and drove yesterday and made it here around six o'clock in the evening. Amy had a chilli supper ready and Matthew and I passed out but not before lots of hugs from Haleigh.
The dogs are getting to know each other and I feel a little out of place but today we'll get me moved into my room and I can start to put some of my things around me.
I'll post more pics soon and write more, just wanted to check in to let you know I'm here safe and sound and happy to be here!

We had a nice view here at this hotel. We are up early, getting ready to start our day of travel. For someone like me who loves rocks and the Native American way of life, this trip has been a dream come true. I got to buy jewelry from the Navajo lady who made it. I've gotten to see rocks smoothed by years of time and I have seen first hand where the art and colors of the Southwest were inspired.
But now I am ready to get to my grandchild. I am ready to hear her laughter and feel her in my arms. After all, that and her parents are the reason for this trip, my destination.

Mormon Country

We visited Salt Lake City today and then drove to Brigham City Utah where we are staying tonight. From here on out it is our goal just to get home. I am ready to be with Haleigh and I'm ready to get settled. We've had such a good time, but I am tired of bouncing up and down in the U Haul and just want to get to Washington. SO hard driving tomorrow and we could be home by Friday.

Petroglyphs

One of my most favorite things was getting to see the petroglyphs. These were done by the Pueblo Indians eight to nine hundred years ago. They are etched into the volcanic rock that is scattered all over the Southwest. Some of them are symbols for trade or culture, some the means aren't known so Matthew and I had a good time trying to figure them out.

This is the Great Salt Lake. The mountain right there in the lake is called Castle Rock. The water is green! It is too early for the beach area to be open but we were able to get close to the water at the marina where I stuck my toe in. The lake is probably three times as big as Salt Lake City. It stretches for more than 70 miles along the interstate. There are no fish because of the high salt content.

We Made It

We saw the Grand Canyon and it is true, pictures can't tell the story. You have to see it yourself and then you can hardly take it all in. It is breath taking.
We stayed the night in St. George, Utah which is where we still are this early morning.
We are headed to Salt Lake City today and then we will drive on to Washington. There is a storm system we are keeping our eyes on and may have to change our route accordingly.
We've had such a good time. Yesterday we also saw some more ruins of the Pueblo people. They are too cool. I'll post some pictures.
Anyway, that's it for now. Hope you are having a good week.

Tonight we are in Flagstaff Arizona and our hotel is on the famous Route 66 highway. It is also known as the Will Rogers Highway.
We stopped at a National Park today and saw what is called the Painted Desert. We also saw ruins of a Pueblo nation at the Petrified Forest National Park. Very cool and beautiful.
Tomorrow the Grand Canyon! I can't wait. Actually today, I write this in the early Tuesday morning.

Good Morning from...

Albuquerque, New Mexico. We got here last night and it is such a pretty town. We are going to explore it a bit today. It is very warm here and very windy.
Yesterday we enjoyed the Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma City and the Memorial at the Federal building site. That was quite moving and made it very real. When I can settle down a bit I'll have some pictures to share of that.
I saw antelope yesterday as we drove, that was pretty cool. They are so small, somehow I thought they were bigger.
I love New Mexico. So far the people are nice and the land is pretty to me. We walked to the downtown area last night from our hotel and it is so cool. Very modern with lots of shops and places to eat.
From here on out, we're slowing down to enjoy some of the places we are going through and I'm looking forward to that.

A Little Snow and John Wayne

We spent most of yesterday driving across Arkansas, "HI Shirley!" We stopped right before leaving Arkansas and visited a history museum where Matthew posed with his hero.
We ended up in Oklahoma City (Hi Michelle!) and I saw more snow on the ground than I've ever seen. The storm was over by the time we got here but as we entered the state there was still plenty on the ground..

I am up early and Matthew is still snoozing. We are planning on staying here in Oklahoma City this morning and visiting the Cowboy museum and the site of the federal building explosion.
Last night we ate dinner at Toby Keith's I love this Bar and Grill. Very interesting to say the least and good food, but way too much of it. And we should make Amarillo by evening!

Good Morning from...........

Tupelo Mississippi. We got this far yesterday. Sweetie approved of our accommodations for the night and we all three slept like babies, traveling tires you out. This is the birthday place of Elvis you know. We are leaving first thing this morning to continue on. We are driving as hard as possible to get out West and then we are going to enjoy some time at the Grand Canyon and in Salt Lake City. Right now we are trying to dodge bad weather. So far so good.

At Last

Today's the day! Matthew got in yesterday morning. He visited with his grandparents most of the day and then he and I loaded the truck and have decided we are ready to leave this morning. It is two days earlier than we'd planned!
I am so very excited. I have waited for this day for so long and had to go through a lot of stuff to get to this day. AND here it is. Today one of those dreams I've stored in this old cedar chest is coming out of storage. So remember, no matter what happens in your life, dreams can come true!

Goodbye Job

I keep trying to say goodbye to people but they keep saying, "Oh, we'll see you on Wednesday", so if that is true today is going to be busy.
My boss is coming to take me to lunch. I wasn't expecting that but it is ok and a good thing, as I've known her the whole time I've worked for the company and she hired me so it is nice to get to see her a last time.
It will feel good to know when I leave that store this afternoon that I won't have to worry about customers, sales, company policies, or that whole corporate world anymore. But at the same time I will miss the people that I've spent more time with than family members, they are my family really. So it is with mixed emotions that I leave with. I've looked forward to this day and dreaded it all at the same time.
But as of around five o'clock today I will officially be unemployed for the first time in many years. That is going to feel weird! But before I have time to even think about that much Matthew will be here tomorrow and we'll be loading that truck! And before I know it, Haleigh will be in my arms and my new beginnings will begin.
SO for the next few days things will be hectic around here and if we can we are going to leave Saturday, although it depends on how things go.
Hope your day is a good one and if I don't blog for a few days, I'm ok, I'll be back soon.
Love,
Robbin

Unexpected Tears and Things to Tie Up

Another short post today as my boss surprised me with unexpected tears saying goodbye to me on Conference Call this morning. You have to understand that she is a very Professional person and I guess I just didn't expect that. So of course when she said she didn't know if she could do it, and then there was a silence while she tried to get her composure back, that caused me to cry, which I wasn't expecting. So there you have it. I'm glad that is over. As one manager put it, she and I have a lot of history together and it was she that originally hired me all those years ago.
AND.....I'm doing things like picking up my medical records, scheduling for the electricity to be cut off, closing out a local bank account, still trying to get them to pick up this dumpster, just taking care of loose ends you know.
I don't go in until noon today and I'm tired already! But I am so excited. Matthew leaves Washington tomorrow, flying through the night and will be here soon!
I am so excited I can hardly breathe, have to keep reminding myself to BREATHE!
Ok, off I go to take care of some of these things.
Love,
Robbin

Conference Call Day, My Last One

I'm about to join my very last conference call for this company and you know that does not make me too sad. Although I will miss some of the other managers, the call is not something I will miss at all. I had thought maybe I wouldn't need to be on this one yet my boss thought I needed to be, to say goodbye. And so I can do that.

After today, I have one more day of work. It is kind of bittersweet to leave a company you've been with for almost 15 years. Yet I don't regret the decision at all. It is time to move on and I am glad I have the means and the opportunity to do so.

I will continue to blog as much as I can during our trip. AND will share as many pictures I can.

And I am so ready to go I am about to bust!!

Closer and Closer

My counter is a little off. I was counting down actually to my last day of work but that's changed a little. I actually have only three days to work this week and then a total of five or six days that we actually pull off.

Last night Matthew and I got on the phone together and mapped out our trip. We are going through some really cool places for someone like me who likes cowboys and indians. I can't wait.

How I will ever get though three more days of work is a mystery to me but I got to do what I got to do. But actually it is better than me being home waiting for three more days.

Anyway, that's all that is on my mind of course. I can't believe this is finally going to happen. It has taken me years to make this decision and then a couple of bumps got in my way but now the road is clear and this is really going to happen. So look out Washington State, I'm nearly on my way.

A Good Night

We had a great time last night at my dinner. This is a pic of me and the girls and my little namesake, Robbin who is Steph's daughter. Remember my post here about my french doors and flowing robes? Well, that's exactly what I got! Two beautiful silky flowing caftan robes to walk out on the deck in. They are beautiful!
The Dr. and his wife gave me a very generous gift of cash which will come in handy for sure. He specified he wanted us to use it as "fun" money on our trip.
I took my travel journal that Tammy sent me and asked them all to write me a little note in it.
I'm going to miss these people very much and they will be in my heart forever.

AH AH CHOO!!!

That's all I can seem to do this morning along with blowing my nose. But I'll take this lovely spring weather any old day even that yellow pollen that comes with it.
After work the girls and I and their husbands are going out to eat to celebrate my "New Beginnings". I like that so much better than a Going Away party.
After today I have only three more days to work. Matthew will be here Thursday. My brain is mush. I don't think I have a complete thought in my head but it feels good to be ahead of the game and be all packed up already. In fact, I can't believe I've accomplished all I have.
I have in fact worked so hard to keep it together the last few months that I hope when I can let my guard down, I don't crash. After the dust settled a little I sort of had a little break down that I had to work through. There were times when I thought I was losing it, times that I questioned everything. And I'm not the same person I was this time last year. I know this, I know I am less confident in my job, in my decisions, in almost every action I take. And so, nobody really knows how hard the last few months have been for me to get through. Staying busy, as to not have to think, concentrating so hard on just trying to get through each day and putting all my trust that moving is the best decision for me.
And so, the time is almost here to start my new beginning, to just take the time to heal completely, physically and mentally. To be with my family, to love my grandchild in person. I'm so ready.

I'm READY FREDDIE!

Ok, I'm ready, where are you Matthew? How can I wait another week? Oh but I must, I have to but it is not going to be easy.
I've found things I had lost, things I'd thought I'd thrown away and things I didn't even know I had!
But at last I've got what I'm taking packed and other than a few pieces of furniture, this is all I'm taking.
Everything else is either thrown away or given to charity. SO there! Now where oh where is Matthew??? I'm ready to load that dang truck!

Into the Single Digits Now

Would you look at that counter? I only nine days away now, actually only seven days away from Matthew arriving and we could leave earlier, we'll see how that goes.
I'm off today and tomorrow and I'll finish up things around here. And Saturday night the girls at work are taking me out to dinner. And then the goodbyes begin and I hate goodbyes. I think I'll just say "See ya" to them all.
I can't believe the time is almost here.
Ok, I'd better get busy around here!

Robbin

Not So Much to Talk About

Yesterday was a rainy, lazy day. I didn't do too much, mostly watched movies and slept. I should have done lots but I have two days off this week and I don't have too much more to do anyway and still be able to live here, so I guess I needed a rest day.
And I'm moving slow this morning and it is still raining, a nice slow rain, one that maybe will soak in because we always need rain here.
Nothing much is going on, I'm just biding time here, and moving day is almost here. So I hope for you all a good week.

I'm Almost There

I've got the worse behind me now and all else as far as this moving thing is downhill. I have to work today but not tomorrow and should have pretty much as much packed as I can and still live here for two more weeks.
My little Sweetie dog is a little confused and not sure what is happening. Boy she has no idea how her life is about to change. But she travels well and she'll be fine but living in town will be a different experience for her for sure.
It's a little cooler this morning here, no windows up, in fact a little heat going.
I don't have to go in until around ten this morning. And then after work I got to do a little shopping for a few things I need.
And that is about my life right now. Hoping you all have a nice weekend wherever you are and that maybe some nice weather.
Love,
Robbin

Listen to the Mocking Bird

Every day this week he has serenaded me before daylight. It's been warm enough that my kitchen window has been up since the weekend and that's where he is, right outside that window and as I make my coffee he sings the most beautiful melody.
It makes me smile every morning.
And I have lots of other things to smile about as well. I am alive and healthy again. The days are clicking away, I'm off today to work on getting this packing a step closer to being done. The weather is good. And pretty soon I will be where I want to be with my granddaughter in my arms. SO sing little bird, sing your heart out, I totally agree with you, life is good!

Awake Before the Chickens!

Ok, not sure what the deal is with me this morning but I woke up at five thirty and can not go back to sleep although I could sleep at least until seven. I haven't done this in a while. Finally I just got up and got the coffee going.

I do have a lot on my mind. In fact it is spinning with all I've got to finish in just a short time for my move, with things going on around here at work, with concern for some people in my life and with just stuff!

I also am sneezing my head off. My little car was covered in pollen yesterday so with the pretty weather comes that yellow stuff that gives us all runny noses and sneezes and wheezes and all that. But it is worth it to have had the nice weather for a change.

I'm going to catch up on everyone's blogs this morning since I've neglected to do so lately and drink coffee until it is time for me to get ready for work.

Hoping you have a good day,
love,
Robbin

JUST THE FACTS MAM

Conference call this morning instead of yesterday throwed me off kilter as far as blogging today.

I am tired but getting things done.

A dumpster can be a person's best friend when they are moving.

The Moon is beautiful tonight.

Two friends of mine got disappointing news today.

My Son called me and we talked and talked.

In fact, I spent a lot of time on the phone today.

I got an email from a friend that I've missed a lot.

I am moving very very soon.

So there's just the facts for today.

Spring is Rearing It's Pretty Head at Last

I did pretty good at work yesterday, we stayed busy and so I didn't go too nuts. And no conference call today, although we will have it tomorrow morning which is my day off, but that's ok, I'll still have all the rest of the day to work here. I need to finish up with what I'm throwing away as that dumpster is costing me each day I have it and I'd planned on keeping it only a week or ten days.

Steph's husband leaves today for a mission trip to Russia, so she will be off to see him off. He'll be gone for ten days. Steph and I were excited because our company gave 300 pair of glasses for the mission and we thought that was pretty cool and generous of them.

The weather is beautiful this week and yesterday I spotted the first Azaleas blooming on my way home. I've not been up to my Mom's lately but I bet her yard is beginning to come alive. She is pouting with me and not communicating so much and I'm very busy and haven't had time to spend much time with her, but she is busy too. Plus her negative comments about my move makes me feel bad so there you go.

My coffee is calling my name and so I'm going for a cup and then maybe get a few things done before work since I don't go in until noon.
Have a good day you all!

It Can't Be Time to Wake UP!

I usually almost always wake up before the alarm but this morning, with the time change of course I didn't. And I couldn't believe it was time to get up already. It's still dark! Usually the first thing I see is daybreak out my bedroom window. So, good morning Day Light Savings Time.

On the bright side there is a bird outside singing the most beautiful melody. I mean he is singing his heart out and so I'll take his lead and know what a wonderful thing it is to have another day to wake up to. And that spring is on the way. Even if I do have to work, which I don't dread too much. After two whole days of packing, I'm ready for a break and so work will do it for sure.

The clock is ticking away and I'd better get going here. Hope you have a great day.
Love,
Robbin

Sunday, March 08, 2009

I made a trip to the dumpster a minute ago, just before dark and there was the moon, bright and almost full, 94 percent according to my Moon Chart thingie.
I love the moon and have had little time in the past few months to pay it homage.

Today I've not had the energy I had yesterday but I did ok. I got a lot accomplished but nothing like yesterday. I still have a few more days off before Matthew gets here and if I'm not done by then, well, he'll be here to help me finish up so I'm not stressing much.

I've worked all weekend with music playing and it's funny to me the assortment I've been through.
Now don't laugh because I have a thing for Johnny Rivers, Glen Campbell, and Barry Manilow. I've worked away with Celine Dion, The Bee Gees and Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight on that Midnight Train to Georgia. Oh and I love the Beatles. And of course there's Elvis. And then the Broadway tunes. Phantom of the Opera, Evita, the best of Andrew Lloyd Webber. I hate it when people ask me what kind of music I listen to because, well, I like some of this and some of that.
And so as my day winds down, I'll soon be another day closer to this big adventure. And don't worry Matthew, if the U-Haul has a CD player in it, I promise not to force Glen or Barry on you.

Happy Sunday!

Oh my goodness am I sore this morning. I'm getting a workout with this moving project for sure but for almost a year I've hardly gotten any exercise so it's all good. Now tell that to my aching body, lol. I got a lot done yesterday, I found stuff I forgot I had, I found stuff I wondered why I kept and I found stuff I've been looking for! And today I'm back to it. The hardest thing of course is deciding what I take and not take since I'm super down sizing. It's HARD! But it's also a good thing. Living alone, I practically live in only one room anyway, so there you go.
Yesterday I drove my car down to the mailbox. It was a beautiful day, in the seventies and so I had my car window down. On the way back I felt the oddest sensation that at first I couldn't figure out what it was and then I realized it was the wind blowing my hair!! Now I've not felt that in a long time. SO I'm getting there although I still have some bald spots, mostly I have hair and enough to blow in the wind. Woo Hoo!
Hope you have a good day. I'm off to get started again and LOOK at my counter........I'm in the teens! YAY!

A Surprise in the Mail!

In my mailbox today was this beautiful travel journal from my friend Tammy. Now I can journal my trip and it has a place for pictures too. So I'll always remember it. Tammy says it is for her too because she's going to read it too one day, since I'm moving to her coast.
Thank you Tammy, I am so proud of it and very surprised too.
Love you!

Time is Marching On

Life is good. The weather is beautiful, although a little cool this morning, the sun is shining and it will be almost 80 degrees today. I am making much progress in my packing and throwing away in my big old dumpster. I got off early yesterday and worked into the night. And this morning I have discovered muscles I've not used in some time but I am ready to go again.

Poor little Sweetie Dog does not understand what in the world is going on. Nothing is where it is suppose to be, there are boxes stacked up and a big green monster of a thing outside where her Mama keeps throwing things inside of it. She barks at it and challenges it to move everytime she goes out. Boy, she has no idea what an adventure she is about to be in for. I've tried to explain to her that she will no longer be a Georgia dog any longer but a Washtonian. I don't think she gets it. She has however been to Alabama and Florida for short visits but this is all together different. She's going to be living with two other dogs for a while and we are anxious to see what comes of that. We shall see. And then there's that little eight year old bundle of energy that she's met before but never had to dea with on a day to day basis. Sweetie is not a young dog. I got her when she was a grown dog and I've had her for nine years so I'm not sure how old she really is and she is used to not a lot of stuff going on. Yep, her life is about to change for sure. But then again, so is her Mama's. ANd I can't wait!

A Sneak Preview

Amy posted this picture she took not too far from her house. This is where I will be living. How's that for a view?

GOOD Friday Morning

Yesterday was slow at work, I'm thinking our busy season is winding down and I'm not sure where that will bring our store. I'd like to think with the economy down and the fact that people will still have to have glasses, they'll choose us since we have such good prices.

Of course I won't be around to see but I still care about this little store, it is sort of like my baby that I've tried to grow and nourish and make sure our customers are treated better than if they'd gone somewhere else.

And sometimes glasses ,believe it or not, are not on people's highest propriety list, especially if they already have at least one old broken down pair that they can still have way see out of. More and more people have vision insurance now but that's only if they still have a job. Things are tough for sure.

I will not however miss the pressure that comes down from the powers that be when sales are down. I will be sitting on the deck, drinking my perfect cup of coffee, and trying to come to terms with how my life is so very different than it was just a year ago. I will be having very interesting conversations with my granddaughter and enjoying being with the people I love most in the world.

If I can get through the day, I have the weekend off. I'm driving my co-workers nuts as I'm afraid as I am restless and can't concentrate. I think they are ready for me to just go already!

And so that's what I'm thinking this morning. As Shirley said to me last week, in the tune of Raw Hide, "Movin', Movin', Movin' ". That's what I'm singing this morning Shirley, over and over and over.
Have a good day!

Let's Git Er DID!

Oh what I'd give to not have to work today, but that is the theme of my life lately. Because I have to I am determined to not let it get to me, to laugh off the things that come up, to try as hard as I can to concentrate and to get through the next few weeks.
The night I closed was the longest day so at least I don't close today and the day, if we are busy will go fast.
I got my dumpster and it is twice the size that I had ordered but it was all they had available so I don't have to pay extra at least and I can dump to my heart's content.
The girls at work have planned a dinner for me on the 21st and that will be fun. Although I'd like to just go out quietly and without fanfare they told me to shut up, this is what we were going to do and I know it will be fun. So there.
And that's about it for now, I'm preoccupied with getting my work around here done and ready for this to happen!
Have a good day,
Love,
Robbin

Dumpster Day

I'm off today and I never thought I could be so excited over the fact that a dumpster is going to be delivered today to my house. YAY! Makes things so much easier in cleaning my life out and simplifying things.
So today I'll do my best at filling that thing up. I wish they'd deliver it early but you know how that goes. Who knows when it will get here but it is coming for sure.
SO for now I'm sipping my morning coffee and planning what room I'm going to work in today. I'm taking the weekend off too so that will help out a good bit and the weather is going to be great.
Hope you have a good day.
Love,
Robbin

Moving Jitters

Conference call this morning is over and it was pretty short compared to some. And for that I am glad. Our store is doing good at the moment so my boss recognized that and announced to the other managers that this is my last month and that I am going out in style. One of the managers said, "We should all get together and have a party!" And my boss said, "Well, we'll have to do it over the phone." LOL. Miss out on the party food that way but anyway.
And speaking of work.........how am I ever going to get through the next three weeks? It is so hard. Hard to concentrate, hard to be there. Just plain HARD. But I must do what I must do. And the reward at the end of the road will be worth it.
And I am so anxious with a nervous stomach. Nervous that something is going to happen at the last minute to screw up my plans. Nervous that I'm going to forget to do something I'm suppose to do. Dreading saying goodbye to my mother, my co-workers, my job, everything I know that is familiar to me. Scared and excited at the same time. I'm a mess really, just ask the girls at work, lol.
I try to concentrate on the actual trip Matthew and I will get to do together. I am thinking of that little girl jumping in my arms. I am thinking of my French Doors, and I am thinking of a brand new life in a beautiful place with people I love and that love me back unconditionally.
But for now I am a wreck!

25 Days & Counting

The big news around here is that it snowed in Georgia yesterday. Even here we had some flurries but not enough to even take a picture of, but not so far from here there was enough to accumulate a little. Of course it melted as soon as it fell nearly but it gets us all excited nontheless.

And just look at my countdown meter! Can you believe it? WOO HOO!

Work is getting harder and harder. If we stay busy I do pretty good but when it slows down I get itchy! I want to be home packing!

This week I'm having a dumpster brought out and that will make things easier for me as I throw away stuff and I won't have to haul it off in my little car.

And so we start a new work week and it is March and time is marching on for sure. Hope you have a good day and a good week!
Love,
Robbin

Drama at the Parts Store

I am the Queen of procrastination. I admit it, I know it and I accept it. But there comes a time when you just can't put things off anymore and last night in the rainy storming night I knew it was time to stop putting off the fact that I needed new windshield wiper blades.

So after leaving work I drove to the nearest Auto Zone I could find and went in to get some. The man was super nice and even put them on for me for which I was very grateful.

While there waiting in line, there was a woman customer working with one of the parts people when her cell phone rang. Her conversation was not a quiet one, she could be heard for miles I think.

Here was the part of the conversation I heard.

"What? You want me to bring you something to eat from town when I've spent all the money I have on parts for the truck that you've still not got running? NO! There is food there, cook yourself something. There is macaroni and cheese, can goods, noodles, rice, potatoes, and in the deep freezer there is ground beef, chicken, pork chops, neckbones, stew beef, steaks, and fish! I am not bringing you anything from town when you can cook!"

I told the lady that was with her that I thought I would go eat at her house. Man!

And then she went on to say to the person on the other end of her phone, "Meat doesn't keep forever in the freezer, I'm going to have to have a meat sale in my front yard! I'm not spending money on food from McDonald's when we have all that food at home. You need to cook! I'm here trying to get the part you say I need that is going to cost me a fortune and you want me to bring you something to eat from town?? NO! Cook you and my baby some macaroni and cheese, you can at least do that much!"

Alrighty then.

And me, well I have nice new windshield wipers that I should have gotten months ago. And I came home and cooked. I was going to stop and get something from town but somehow the appeal of doing that left me.

And how was your day?
Click this, I liked it and wanted to share.

Just Me Thinking Out Loud

I've read with interest lately of how families are combining households now more than ever because of the economy. And of course because that is exactly what I am about to do. Most of the stories are about the grown kids coming back home but there are cases like mine where the parent goes to live with the kids.
This is not going to be a forever thing for me but it just seems right for now. Our family needs some healing time and some together time. But I am a very private person and independent so although we hope to live always near each other to be fair to them and me, I plan to have my own place one day. In the meantime it is Haleigh and me who will benefit the most I think. She and I need each other. She's never had a family member live so close to her other than her mom and dad so that in itself is a good thing.
The people who are most negative about this situation don't know or understand the connection we have. I love my daughter in law as much as if she was my own daughter. I am not a meddling person and she knows this. She and I can be honest with each other and we share most of the same morals and beliefs. And I know she welcomes me into her home with as much joy and acceptance as does my son.
And right now I need to feel needed and so helping take care of a family fits the bill. My cooking skills are rusty so they'll have to get through that with me and Amy is a much better cook than me anyway but I am kind of excited about cooking again as I don't do that for myself much any more.
Having a built in baby sitter will be great for them and when I'm with Haleigh it is not like baby sitting, it is being with someone I really and truly enjoy being with, as she is eight going on thirty. SO that is a win win situation.
And I am grateful for this wonderful son of mine and his wife and daughter. How lucky am I? Now if time would just move a little faster!

Stormy Weather

The weekend is suppose to be stormy. They've mentioned it all, rain, hail, snow, tornadoes. They've covered all the bases so I guess we'll wait and see what happens.
I have to work today and I'm off tomorrow.
Yesterday I snuck off early as we weren't so busy and I had coverage and of course they got busy after I left but they handled it. I got lots done and the more I get done the more I am ready to go! Mentally I mean.
I think now that I've given up wearing the hat my hair is growing even faster. By next month maybe it will look lots better.
I know not much else today, I got my coffee going and my brain is fuzzy right now. Hope you have a good weekend.
Love,
Robbin

MAN Problems

No not me! But everyone at work seemed to have man problems yesterday. Although one not so much of a problem but it still involved a man, a little man. Loni hated to leave her grandson at home and he really didn't want her to come to work. Everyone else's problem was husbands! Men! Can't live with'em, can't live without'em.

My grandmother used to say, "Marry him like you want him to be because you certainly can't change him afterwards!" Unfortunately I did not take her advice.

Anyway, that just seemed to be the theme of the day. Men. But from experience I know how us women are. Yesterday you can be ready to divorce him and today he can suddenly become the most wonderful thing that walked the earth. Women! Go figure.

Ooh LaLa......A Room With a View

Guess what? My room in Matthew's house is downstairs and listen to this......it will have French Doors that open out on to the back deck. OH MY GOODNESS. Now I've got to buy some long flowing robes so I can walk out, holding a perfect cup of coffee and enjoy it outside on the deck in that wonderful mountain air. I think that will be the best therapy I could get. French Doors! Just like in the novels I read, just like in the movies! (Sorry, it doesn't take that much to excite me you see.)
I don't know how I'm ever going to make it another 29 days. I'm getting so excited I can't stand it and I'm happier now than I can remember being in a while.
I am also going to be late for work if I don't get away from this computer and start getting ready.
I had the best day yesterday, I got lots done, Matthew and I talked for a long time on the phone and I felt so good.
Ok, off to work!

Work Day Wednesday

I've got do get going this morning, it is my day off but I have to go to laundry and I have some other errands to run and then I got to get back home and get things done here. I was thinking I scheduled myself off another day this week but that is next weekend but I am off Sunday. I got to stay focused here now cause I only have 30 more days! Woo Hoo!
So determined was I to remain hatless yesterday that I nearly froze to death walking from my car into the store. I forgot how warm your hair keeps you so I could have at least wore a knit hat while I'm outside but I didn't even think of it. I will remember next time!
Yesterday when things slowed down at the store, we had only one customer and her son in the store. Loni was selling his mom glasses and I was just sort hanging out and I picked up a pair of purple clearance sunglasses and put them on and looked at myself in the mirror. I noticed the kid looking at me and so I looked at him through the glasses and said, "Don't ya think I look cool with my purple sunglasses and my nearly bald head and he smiled and nodded and gave me a thumbs up. LOL, cute.
And so I'd better get my coffee going and get going on my day.
Hope your Wednesday is a good one.

Robbin

I Did It!

I did it, I went hatless yesterday. I held my head up high and decided it was time to quit hiding behind that floppy hat. And truth is hardly anyone even cared. Of course there was that one old man who asked me what in the world I'd done to my head but he is a grouchy old man that has in the past said some not so nice things to me anyway. He only dampened my spirit for a moment. I did go and have it shaped up a little so it didn't look so shaggy down my neck and over my ears. One man told me he liked my spiffy haircut and the people who knew what a big deal it was for me gave me a hug. So I've reached a big milestone. Some people don't get the big deal it was to me.
It left me feeling free and unburdened and proud to announce to the world, "I have survived this thing, hair loss and all!"
This morning is the dreaded conference call. I don't have too many more of those.
Work has been rough again lately. We are all tired and nothing is easy. It is getting to all of us as I saw short tempers yesterday from my staff and I understand why. People are more difficult now than ever. They are demanding and have no patience to wait their turn and treat us like we are trying to screw them over or like we don't know what we are doing. And they are just sometimes RUDE.
It hurts your feelings and disheartens you when you are trying so hard to please people and do what is best or them and then they slam you with being rude.
Matthew said the economy is affecting his work and it is rough too at this time. He is a policeman. He says people are desperate and pitiful and maybe that is affecting our customers as well.
Anyway, I am looking forward to the break and I hope things calm down for my co-workers. I keep telling them to come go with me to Washington and we'll make jewelry and sell it on the beach, lol.
Well, time to get on the call, have a good day dear friends and if you go shopping smile and be patient with the sales clerks, they'll appreciate it!

To Be Hatless or Not

I'm thinking very seriously this morning of going hatless. I do still need to have a beautician trim me up a bit and I was going to do that first but the hat is starting to get bothersome and my mother hates it and is on a campaign for me to stop wearing it because after all, as she puts it, I do have hair!
She fusses at me about it every time she sees me and then the other day she complained to Steph about it who told her I'd do it when I was ready but I wasn't ready yet. In a way it's like a security blanket for me, who knows! SO we'll see. People had plenty to say about my hats from "your hat is cute" to "why are you wearing that rag on your head?" So I can't imagine how they'll react to a very, very, short hair do. On second thought, I think I'll wear my hat today, lol.
Anyway, I had a pretty good weekend and got some things done although that nastly virus took away some of my time. I'm glad it didn't last long though.
I'm thinking this week my boss will make some decisions about the store, she is for sure going to promote Steph, even though she's not made it official and I'm hoping she will promote within for the assistant manager, we'll see. Whatever, it is time to decide so they can move forward. Because I'm leaving you know!
So, as a new week starts I hope for you a good one. Spring is nearing and I think almost everyone is ready for that. I sure am.
Love,
Robbin

Virus Interruption

The craziest thing happened to me about midday yesterday. I was feeling fine up until then, working away and I started feeling sick to my stomach. It didn't get to me until later last night. I was up every few hours being sick. Oh how I hate that. This morning I slept off and on until midday and then it was over. Who knows! I don't think it was anything I ate, I really only ate cereal so I guess it was a silly virus. No fever thank goodness. So I'm ok now and although I got some packing done, not nearly as much as I hoped for. But I'm off again Wednesday and Friday, so onward I'll go then.
I wish I had a week off, I should have given my notice a week earlier at work than I did but at the time I was still thinking I was going to transfer and I didn't know how much time they'd allow me. Now I'm thinking of just letting my job go because there is not anything really close enough to work. Sometimes I think it's crazy to do that in an economy where people need jobs but taking the summer off and getting settled and spending time with my granddaughter is too tempting. Plus retail is getting too much for me lately and so after 15 years of working in Optical Retail, I think I shall give it a rest. We'll see what happens from there.
Anyway, hope your weekend was a good one.
Goodnight.

Packin' & Dreamin' on a Saturday Morn

The sun is brightly shining this morning but it is 26 degrees. It never gets so warm in my house so I am freezing and thinking of taking a bath to warm up some. I'm excited about being off today because I have lots to get done. Only 34 more days, I can't believe it.

I've decided I want to see the Grand Canyon. It would be really silly to be that close and not see it and I may never have another chance. So Matthew, can we see the Grand Canyon please??

We're also going to see the Great Salt Lake....

I'm a nature girl and so I'm much more interested in seeing the land and the rocks and the dirt and the animals than real touristy places. We are free spirits, Matthew and me, so we're not going to do much planning I don't think. If we come across something we want to see that is what we will do. And I just can't wait!

1278

Tammy posted her 500th post yesterday. And like she says, that is pretty amazing with her one little finger that she types with. Her posts are always thought provoking and full of her feelings and heart.

I hardly ever notice how many posts I've posted. I have been at this a long time and so I checked this morning and this will be my 1,278th post. Whew! That's a lot of posts. My posts on the other hand come straight from my head as I think them and are hardly ever as beautifully thought out and put together as Tammy's are. I sometimes forget to use spell check and my grammar is certainly not perfect. Tammy's posts are inspirational and her photography is beautiful and her writing talent comes shining through. And she does this with that one finger and that beautiful mind of her's. I'm so glad to know her and glad we found each other. And I'm awed that she even reads my mumbo jumbo. Thank you Tammy. In fact thank all of you, my blogger buddies for always being there, ready to tell me what you think and for ignoring all my misspellings and grammer mistakes.

I've posted great joy, great pain, fear, & silliness. I've typed through tears and humiliations and indecision's. I've shared dreams and disappointments, given weather reports and book reports. I've shared photos and recipes and some pretty bad poetry, lol. I've just pretty much shared my life's ups and downs on the World Wide Web, thinking nothing I had to say would mean much to anyone but me. But the thing is I've connected through the years with people I'd have never known otherwise. From Ireland down to Florida. Funny how that happened. The support I got from these people during my darkest days got me through things I'd have never thought I could get through. I never thought I'd put my bare feelings out for anyone to come along to read but that's what I've done, as other bloggers do and those are the bloggers I am most attracted to, people who share their real lives.

As I am about to start a whole new phase of my life we'll see where that leads me. And I'm glad I have this way to share it because even when you think no one could possibly care what you have to say, guess what? They do. And for that I am thankful.
Have a great Friday everyone!

Robbin

This, That, & Some Other Stuff

It's always amazing, isn't it, when there is a stormy night and then the next morning is filled with sunshine and the only evidence that a storm occurred is a wet ground and in our case limbs everywhere? Here we were spared the really bad weather as there were some tornadoes that touched town in surrounding counties. I heard the wind roaring and thunder in the distance all night but finally was lulled to sleep by the sound and then this morning it is as if it never happened.

Yesterday I was off and spent the morning up at my mom's doing her taxes. She's still talking of the nursing home and such but I just answered her questions and listened to her tell me how she hoped I know what I'm doing and then she says, "I wonder how much H & R block will charge me to do my taxes next year. " Oh brother. If it weren't so sad, it would really be quite comical. It's ok, I can handle it. I think maybe yesterday she got the chance to say all she wanted to, and so that is that. We'll see.

I am taking a personal day Saturday so I'll have two days off in a row to do some more packing, didn't get much done yesterday. I couldn't put that book down until I finished it and now I do not need to get into another book for awhile.

And I am really close to going hatless. Before I do however I need to let someone trim me up a little, I am a little shaggy, hair growing down my neck and it just needs some sort of shape and then I think I will be ok with it. Still looks like a man's haircut but it is kind of cute. I'm so happy to have hair and not have that cancer patient look tagged to me.

Hope your Thursday is a good one, I'm off to get ready for work.
Love,
Robbin

Time for a Book Report

I just finished this book and added it to my Shelfari Book Shelf but I needed to just say, if you are in the mood to read and need a good juicy novel, this is the one. I've never read Kristin Hannah's other novels and I know she has at least two other ones but all I can say is this one is great.

It's a story that spans about 30 years and it is the story of three sisters. Just as a coincidence it is set in Washington State and I had no idea of this until I got into it. There's true love and pain and jealousy and stubbornness and the characters are so real to me that I am missing them already. And there's a happy ending, and oh how I love happy endings.

Anyway, you've got to read it! And that's all I'm saying.

A Last Glimpse?

I walk out of work into a partially dark parking lot. As I make my way to my car I notice a young man leaning against a vehicle to my right about 4 rows over. He is in silhouette. My heart skips a beat.

My head knows better but somewhere deep inside I hope I am being given another last glance of him. He is the right sized person, his features in the shadows look the same, his dress is so typical of my son. I slow my steps in order to stare at him longer. He is not looking my way, I only see his profile. I know this is not him, or could it be? Could I be seeing him again? My goodness, it has to be him, it looks just like him. He stands just like him, in that James Dean manner. It has to be him. My heart pounds. It so looks like him, I am in awe and slowly I walk past him but I can not help looking back. He turns his face toward me and the light hits his features. My heart sinks! It is the wrong face. And even though I knew it wasn't him, I still hoped. I hoped I was getting a final glimpse of someone I love with all my heart. I hoped for one more chance to tell him how much I love him, face to face. But it is not the right face.

The young man gives me a sad little smile and I turn away, embarrassed that I was probably acting weird and I hurry up and get inside my car. And I cry all the way home.

It is not the first time I've seen him or thought I did. In fact I see him all the time. I see him in crowds, I see him passing me in a car. But I feel him in my heart and of course that is real and this I know.

A Good Day

I had a really good day yesterday. First of all it was good to see my Doctor again and the nurses who took such good care of me for all those months. My check up was good. An Oncologist in the only kind of Dr. I know of who is actually happy that you've gained weight, which I have. Well, the deal is I lost weight during all that and now I'm back to where I was and he takes that as a good sign because it is showing you are eating.

My blood work looked great and I am feeling well and he was happy and so was I. We talked about my move and he's having all my records copied for me to take with me. He assured me there were wonderful Dr.'s where I was going and I don't have to see anyone for another three months or at least by June 1st. And then he said, "Now just because you are going to move doesn't mean we don't care about you so please call us from time to time and let us know how you are doing." I thought that was really sweet.

All the nurses thought my move is a great thing, they know all I've been through and think it is great that I will be with my son and his family. Of course they all got to know my mother while we went through this and they asked how she felt about it and I told them she wasn't that happy about it but like everyone else they say, "You've got to live your own life and do what makes you happy."

So, things are moving along here. I've had my discussion with my mother, I've got my first check up behind me, looks like blue skies ahead and all I can say is I am ready!

Tuesday Again

Ok, it is Conference Call day and I'm going to try and be a good girl and get my blogging over with before I'm on it instead of doing it while I'm on it.
Today is my first three month check up after finishing chemo. Since the rest of these check ups will have to be done in Washington, I'm going to ask for my medical records. This is the Dr. I really like, it was the radiologist that sort of gave me the creeps, so I'm glad I'm seeing him and not the other one. So, anyway, I have my call, the Dr.'s appointment and then on to work. It is my night to close so I don't get off until eight tonight. A busy day.
So, that's about all I know this morning. We are still hopping at work, had another big day yesterday and that's good if it doesn't kill all of us. I need about three other employees this time of the year.
Hope your Tuesday is a good one.
Love,
Robbin

An Email from Haleigh

Are you having fun out there alot here laitly?
to Grandma from Haleighi love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you are my sunshine!!!

I had this wonderful email from Haleigh this afternoon. I can hardly wait to get her in my arms. She is MY Sunshine!
And I got a counter----------------------------------------------------------->>>>
So now I can keep up with just how much longer.

Short Timer's Syndrome

A big thank you for every one's comments on yesterday's post, you'll never know how much they mean to me and help me. I got some private emails too and thanks for those. What would I ever do without my blog support group? You gals get me through some hard times!
I am moving slow this morning as if I didn't have to work, but I do! But I wanted to let you all know how much you mean to me.
I am getting so excited. Amy told me I had short timer's at work and I thought she just made that phrase up only to hear it again from Tammy on the phone yesterday. It is a real thing which I have!! So there you go, learn something everyday, but then again I've been with this company for 15 years, so I've not left a job for a long time!
Anyway, I'd better get going!
Have a good day,
Love,
Robbin

The Conversation

My mother has known for quite some time that I am moving only she refused to really believe it. I mean after all, talking about it and doing it are two different things. Last spring when I had my hysterectomy, and before the cancer thing, Matthew and I thought I'd be able to move last summer but then I kind of got side tracked. Anyway, at that time Matthew talked to her about it and as expected she expressed how she just couldn't believe it and that she felt like we were deserting her and my stepfather.

First of all, I am my mother's only child. I've never lived more than an hour away from her in all my almost 52 years. As long as I've lived I've probably never done anything that would really rock her world. I've tried to be a good daughter but she never seems to think I am. And I've tried for my whole life but she is the type of person that has always pointed out my faults, and I can never really truly tell you anything I've ever done that she thought was admirable. I get that too, that is just who she is. I quit trying to figure it all out a long time ago. She is my mother, I love her and I know she loves me, but our relationship does not bring me acceptance or comfort.

And so, you can understand how hard this move is for that reason. She can make me feel so guilty, and so this week I had to finally (yes, I have put it off this long) have the conversation and to let her know that this is really happening.
She told me she supposed her and my stepfather would just go live in a nursing home. There would be nobody here to take care of them. At 71 years old the woman is healthier than I am! My Stepfather is only 60 years old and is not feeble at all I can assure you. But I was expecting that, it is why I put it off so long. There is no way I'm going to get her blessing. She doesn't understand why in the world I'd even want to move way up there. "But don't worry about us."

And so she will not make it easy for me. Part of the excitement and joy of this new adventure will be tainted for that reason. And my whole life, I've got to tell you, I've not ever done things for fear of upsetting someone else's world. That's just how I'm made up, how I roll. So I've got to be strong here. And I knew this all along. So she'll be pitiful until I leave. And I've got to concentrate on what I want, what I need. In my dream world she would tell me she loves me and although she will miss me, she is glad I am doing this and she understands how I need to be with Matthew and his family. But that ain't gonna happen. In my dream world she'd fly out to visit me and we'd see all there is to see out there but oh no, she told me right away that her traveling days were over and she wasn't going anywhere. So I have to live with this and go forward, no matter how hard it is.

My Guard Dog

We had a stellar week at the store this week and I'd like to just curl up with the new book I bought yesterday but NO! I have work to do, I'm moving you know. So far I've gotten as far as making a pot of coffee.
Usually my little dog, Sweetie, sleeps through the night but last night she kept me awake practically the whole night. She heard things apparently all night long. She would jump up, scamper over me in bed and jump to the floor and bark like crazy. And then she'd stand guard at the door and sort of just barely bark. It drove me nuts and I think finally she and I both went to sleep around four in the morning. So I've not had too much sleep. I'm not sure exactly what she was protecting me from but she did a very good job for sure.

Friday, February 13, 2009

The news is depressing this morning, a plane crash, another little girl missing in Florida. It's Friday the 13th and if you're superstitious that could be bad. I always figured it could be a lucky day too so there you go. One of the girls at work is going to see the new Friday the 13th movie tonight. Not me, I don't care for scary movies thank you very much. I in fact have the movie here "Nights in Rodanthe" which is much more my speed.
Anyway, Friday the 13th today, Valentine's Day tomorrow.
Matthew and I were thinking of the same thing last night without knowing it. I was soaking in a nice hot bath and thinking about what we needed to stop and see on our trip and when I got out he had emailed me and was thinking about that too. He wants to see the Great Salt Lake in Utah. I don't care what we see really, just to be in places I've never been and to see new land will be enough for me.
I am moving slow this morning, really pushing it with time so I'd better get going and take my bath. It is supposed to be rainy today and tomorrow according to the weather man but the sun is shining brightly out there at the moment.
Have a good day, watch out for black cats and such!
Love,
Robbin

Ready to GO!

I might have slept late yesterday but I got a lot done so I was proud of me. Now that I'm in the packing ,cleaning, throwing away mode, I'd rather stay home and do it other than going to work. But I have to stay until my date I gave and work on this part at home on days off. It is going to be harder and harder as time goes on to actually concentrate on work. I am ready to go!
I've no guess how busy we'll be at work today, things have slowed down a little but you never know. Our Dr. stays late on Thursdays and we usually get a lot of people who have insurance and that always is interesting. Insurance is nice to have put a pain to handle for sure. It takes time and in a world where people are in such a hurry and want things instantly it can get a little hairy. But we manage.
And that's about all I know for now, just trying to get through day by day.

Lazy Bones Am I

I'm off today and I slept in until nine o'clock. It has been a long time since I did that. I did have a hard time actually going to sleep so that explains it probably. I have much I'd like to get done today and the weather is nice, so we'll see how that goes.
We're working on getting the U-haul and Matthew's airline ticket and I'm getting really excited.
Nothing much worth talking about going on around here. I had a terrible dream where I was at a big meeting for work and I couldn't find the room where my group was meeting and I started to panic. I ran into a girl who I used to work with but no longer works with our company and she just laughed and laughed at me as I wandered from room to room. I had my phone but when I opened it to call my boss to ask where they were there were no numbers, no keys at all. So I panicked some more. It was a nightmare!!
Anyhow, have a good day.

This is TOO cute!

Click here, do now, it is too good to miss. It'll show you how to clean your screen from the inside.

Tuesday Tidbits

Shh! Don't tell anyone but I'm blogging while on conference call. You can do that when you put the phone on speaker and mute it. Of course if she calls on me for something, I've got to unmute fast and answer but right now she is going through numbers and that takes awhile with 15 stores.
Our weather is beautiful, still a little cool at nights, but in the seventies for the days. Plenty of sunshine. It feels good.
Things are still hopping at work, we are busy, busy. We are taking advantage of it while it is happening because it will stop for sure. People have income tax money. That money will end and then we'll be back to people really being careful of how they spend.
I'll be out of there by then, and I won't miss the pressure for sure. I still have some nerve damage from the chemo in my feet and staying on them all day and running around causes them to feel like ground beef at the end of the day and I won't miss that either. Of course my son is going to have me climbing mountains or such and I better get tough!
Anyway, I'd better get back to my conference call. Hope for all of you a good day.
Love,
Robbin

OH MY!

45 days. That's how many more days before I leave my job. A transfer is still up in the air, but it's ok. I need a new start, a new place, a new outlook on life. And I'm doing it in a big way. So, the count down is on. And I'm excited!

May I Help You or Would You Rather Snap My Head Off?

Yesterday was not at all what we expected at work. It was in fact a day of chaos and confusion. Maybe the cold weather had people in a bad mood, and even though they weren't just plain ugly, they weren't over friendly. It was one of those days where you'd ask them their names and they'd mumble something which meant I had to ask again which seemed to aggravate them. Sorry.

It was a day where people were super sensitive, where one girl got her feeling hurt because we were trying to find out if she was going to be able to use her insurance and when my associate told her a few times that she was not eligible, she said, "I wish she'd quit saying that!" She was almost in tears, not because of her insurance but because she didn't like being called "not eligible." It was a day where we couldn't win for losing.

People came dragging in late and got mad if you hinted the Dr. might not be able to see them. I jokingly told one such person that she could go talk to the Dr. and beg him, and I was only kidding but she informed me right away that she wouldn't be "begging" anyone. Whatever. I just finally learned to keep my mouth shut. This wasn't a day to joke with people.

And so today off I go to combat. Who knows what this day will bring but I know one thing, I have never been more tired of working retail than ever in my life. We are people too, not just robots who work in a store. We have feelings, we are human, we are just trying to make a living.

So, we'll see what today holds. You just never know.

It's Just Plain Cold

It is 18 degrees in South Georgia this morning. So I sit here shivering before I go take a nice hot bath and get ready for what I think and hope will be a busy day at work. I am told the Dr.'s book is completely full and even if they don't all show up we should be busy as all get out. Thank goodness.
I have the tinest of colds, have fought it the last few days. A really mild sore throat and a runny nose. And I have a hacking cough which I hate to have especially around the customers but maybe when I get going and all cleared up, it won't be so bad. I hope.
And so I wish for you a very good and peaceful Thursday. It's hard to believe another week as just about clicked by.
Love,
Robbin

Of Biscuits, A Day Off, & Some Deep Thoughts

I've bought the most terrible bag of frozen biscuits. It all started because of a jar of wonderful honey a dear friend sent me. I decided I wanted hot biscuits to eat with it, and since I can't for the life of me make biscuits I bought a bag. The first ones I tried to cook were burned on the outside and raw in the middle. I figured it was just me, I must have the oven too hot or something. So this morning I checked the temp and time suggested on the package and still the same thing. Ticks me off! I've bought some before that did great and were good. Not these.
I am off today and it is cold outside. In the low twenties with wind chills down in the teens. Glad I'm not getting out.
Check out my really cool bookshelf. I saw that Debra over at It Came to Pass had it on her blog and knew I had to have it. I like it. I've been in the reading mode for the last few weeks. I am glad because there for a while I thought I'd lost that love. My world is so topsy turvey at the moment. I've worried about losing my passions in life. Nothing seems to knock my socks off anymore. Is that what happens as you age? I'm feeling about 100 years old lately. Do things stop amazing you? Do you not experience things, simple things, that used to make you stand in awe? Or is it just me? Have I numbed myself so much to keep from hurting that I don't feel the awesome stuff too? These are the questions I ponder as of late.
I'm putting all my eggs in one basket here. I'm hoping my move and being with my kids will bring me back to life. Right now I'm just going through the motions of life. Right now I'm a ghost just being where I'm suppose to be when I'm suppose to be, like an outsider looking in. Not a participate.

I Have Hair

Posted by Picasa
Still not enough to not wear a hat but it is coming for sure. For anyone who lands here that's had chemo and wonders how long it takes, I had my last treatment the last of October. It grows slow for sure. I've read where it usually grows back different and some times in a new color, but mine is the same, straight and dark and gray. I really wanted curly hair, darn it! But I'll take whatever I get!
I'm tired of hats and scarves.

What a Day!

If yesterday is to be an inclination of how the rest of my week is going to go, I think I shall just stay home with a blanket over my head. It was just one of those days where if it can go wrong, it did. One of those days where you have to laugh to keep from crying.
I had to work and was actually a little busy but then I ended up giving two refunds which ate up almost my whole profit for the day. One man was very upset and let me have it over the phone and I dreaded him coming in but he sent his wife instead to get the refund. The other lady had bought a frame only which I'd already exchanged once but then yesterday she just came in and nearly threw the frame at me and wanted her money back. So, ok. I broke some one's glasses when I was doing a repair. I got busy with one lady while a man was waiting for me and he got mad and left, saying something ugly on his way out.
When at last my day was over and I went to make the bank deposit, the night drop was locked for some reason so I had to take the money back to the store and now I have to deal with that this morning.
I was so utterly exhausted when I got home that I was sound asleep by nine thirty and didn't want to wake up at seven this morning.
And so here's hoping for a better day. Please, let it be a better day!
