A Squirrel of a Different Color

I saw a black Squirrel this morning. I wasn't able to get his picture but this is exactly what he looked like. I've never ever seen a black squirrel. He was gathering nuts all alone early this morning. I hope I'll see him again!

When I lived in Illinois, I guess I thought there was only ONE kind of squirrel! DUH! When I moved down here, and I saw a pretty FOX squirrel that was black all over with a white face, I DIDNT KNOW WHAT I WAS LOOKING AT!! Anyway, If you go read about them they "CAN" be solid black all over,,,,They are called the Eastern Fox Squirrel. There are 3 different color phases of the fox squirrel,,,anyway,,,,,sorry to ramble,,,,,Hope you DO see him again!

Most of the squirrels I see around here are black. I was more familiar with the little brown ones where I used to live and see those here only occassionally. My exchange student had never seen a squirrel before coming here. Hard to think of the squirrel as being an "exotic animal" to someone, but it is all relative isn't it!

Steph, You know I did research it and read that. Funny I've not seen one before now.
