A Project Going in my Mind

I have two Oncology Nurses that are so good to me, and so good with all their patients. It goes much deeper with them than just a job and you can tell. I've planned for quite some time now to make them both a bracelet to show my appreciation and I've thought about it and little by little have been ordering the supplies I need to make them as special as I know how.

So, here's what I've come up with. Everyone knows and recognizes the Pink ribbon for breast cancer, but each different cancer has a color for awareness. So, using Swarvoski crystals, I thought I'd take some of those colors, along with silver spacers and put together the bracelet. And then the color for Uterine Cancer is Teal and I'd use a ribbon charm in that color for my own cancer. My mother would like to have one too. I found the most beautiful charm, which cost a little more than I was planning to pay but I can't resist it, so I've ordered three of them.

And so as soon as I get all my materials and I get them made, I'll post a picture. I also want to print out a little card that explains what the bracelet represents and how much they've meant to me. They are my champions, as they are to all their patients.
I had such a good day yesterday and so far this morning I feel good too. I actually walked around the yard yesterday at my mom's which I've not been able to do for quite some time without having to sit down. Of course I didn't do much after that but it was nice to be able to walk without tiring out so fast and without that dizziness.
ANYWAY.........nothing too exciting happening right now. I'm loving the cooler weather, sometimes in Georgia just because the calender says Fall doesn't mean it feels like Fall, but we are there for now.

Robbin, What a thoughtful idea. I know your nurses will love their bracelets. The charm really is beautiful. I wish I had a crafty project going, but instead I have a stack of homework. The things I get myself into! *grin*

I'm glad to read your post this morning. Your generous spirit is shining through.

hugs,
Aisling

I have only seen the pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness. I just didn't think about different colors being attached to different types of cancer. The one you have picked is beautiful, and I'm looking forward to seeing them when they are finished.

Hope your good days continue. I honestly feel the worst is behind you.

The bracelet idea is beautiful! I could see a little business there if you were so inclined. And I'd be first in line to buy one or four or six! Do you happen to know what color is for brain cancer? Today would have been my mom's 86th birthday, so I have that nasty old brain cancer on my mind.

You sound more like your old self, Robbin. I hope that means you are on the up swing now. Know that I admire your strength and courage, along with you loving and giving spirit.

Blessings on your day, friend.

I fell way behind in reading/commenting. Live has been a bit hectic here. Just getting the house ready for the upcoming busy season and finding that I have to rebuild the masterbath due to a long time leak that I didn't know about.

But I didn't forget you. I always picture you being whole and happy. That's my prayer for you.

I absolutely love the charm and the bracelet idea. What a wonderful way to let your nurses know how much they mean to you. I'd be interested to know the colors associated with the different types of cancer.

Do you use Fire Mountain as a supplier? I order from them for my little projects. (I did fresh water pearls for the girls and a few simple ear drops.)

I pray your day is happy and comfortable.

OH Marge, thank you so much for your kind words, I feel more like myself lately too and that's a good thing. You would have seen I put a post up that tells the colors of the ribbons, and I can imagine how much has been on your mind today since it was your Mom's birthday. I'm coming to visit you next as I see you've got a new post about it there.
Love you bunches and as always thanks for your prayers and good thoughts.
